Apple Invests Heavily in Conversational AI and Advanced Language Models

Apple is reportedly allocating millions of dollars daily toward the development of artificial intelligence (AI), with a strong focus on conversational AI. The tech giant has multiple AI teams, including a ‘Foundational Models’ unit led by John Giannandrea, aiming to enhance Siri’s task automation and create a chatbot for AppleCare.

The ‘Foundational Models’ unit comprises around 16 members, including former Google engineers, and is striving to surpass OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 in conversational AI capabilities. Apple’s internal language model, Ajax GPT, trained on over 200 billion parameters, is touted as more powerful than GPT-3.5.
